IGCSE Maths Past Papers
Official sources for both syllabi, and a five-step routine that turns any paper into permanent marks.
Official sources
Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580) / Cambridge IGCSE (9β1) Mathematics (0980)
Cambridge Assessment International Education. Papers are released per series (june and november series (march series also available in india)), each package containing the question paper, mark scheme and examiner report.
Official board page βEdexcel International GCSE Mathematics A (4MA1)
Pearson Edexcel. Papers are released per series (january and june series), each package containing the question paper, mark scheme and examiner report.
Official board page βThe most recent series are usually restricted to registered centres. Ask your school or a local centre for access, and use the publicly released past papers for daily practice.
The five-step paper routine
Sit it cold
Full time limit, no pauses, no notes, calculator only where the paper allows it. Half-timed practice trains the wrong pace.
Mark with the scheme
Use the official mark scheme, not an answer list. Method marks only exist in the scheme, and they are usually half the total.
Classify every lost mark
Careless slip, knowledge gap, or misread question. Only knowledge gaps go on the revision plan; careless slips go on the error log.
Re-attempt in 48 hours
Redo every failed question from a blank page. Seeing the same question twice a week later is what converts marks permanently.
Read the examiner report
Each series ships with a report naming the questions students handled worst globally. It is free, specific advice from the people who marked your paper.
Which tier of papers should I practise?
- βPractice at your entry tier first, every single time. The method you train is the method you will use.
- βCore and Foundation candidates: attempt the early questions of Extended or Higher papers for stretch, but never at the cost of full marks on your own tier.
- βExtended and Higher candidates: complete one full Core or Foundation paper in week one. Those basics fill the front of your papers too.
